DESCRIPTION:"Surviving and Thriving in the Workplace: What Can We Do Now?" At this event\, you'll hear from a renowned scholar and you'll hear from three accomplished women: Julie Del Genio\, Shen Macheel and Mary Stroh. \n\n  Julie Del Genio is Human Resources Leader at Enkei America\, Inc. \n\nTrained as an attorney\, Del Genio has served in professional roles at Cummins\, Inc.\, Irwin Management and IMC Advisors. She has been a visible volunteer leader with United Way of Bartholomew County\, Greater Columbus Economic Development Corporation\, kidscommons\, and Columbus Area Arts Council.  \n\n \n\n  Shen Macheel\, is Vice President/Partner/Director of Government Programs at LER TechForce\, a company affiliated with LHP Engineering Solutions.\n\nMacheel has been a leader within the Columbus Chinese community.  She helped organize an exchange of scarce personal protective equipment between our city and several of Columbus's Chinese friendship cities including Wuhan\, Xiangyang\, and Ningde early in the pandemic. Macheel has played a key role in local economic development efforts\, representing LHP on the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corporation board of directors and joining Indiana's trade missions to China\, serving as a translator and cultural expert. \n\n \n\n  Mary Stroh\, is a Partner at Sharpnack Bigley Stroh & Washburn LLP\n\nStroh has distinguished herself throughout her life\, first as a standout student and athlete and later\, as a partner in the law firm Sharpnack Bigley Stroh & Washburn. Stroh has been active as a volunteer and board member for the Foundation for Youth\, Children Inc.\, Bartholomew County Bar Association Board of Directors\, First United Methodist Church\, United Way Citizens' Review\, Indianapolis Bar Review\, Columbus Express Soccer Club\, and Lincoln Central Neighborhood Family Center. \n\nJulie Goodspeed-Chadwick will explore the differences between surviving and thriving in the workplace\, through storytelling and evidence-based approaches. You'll leave with some manageable solutions for making the workplace more inclusive and inviting for all. \n\nJulie Goodspeed-Chadwick\, Ph.D.\, is a Chancellor's Professor of English and Women's\, Gender\, and Sexuality Studies and serves as the founder and director of the Office of Student Research at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus. Her publications include three books\, the latest which won a national award from the Popular Culture Association this year. In addition\, she has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters\; these publications focus on literature in connection with women's\, gender\, and sexuality studies. Her research\, teaching\, service\, and leadership work and efforts combine to empower people\, especially underrepresented people\, through education. Dr. Goodspeed-Chadwick is the recipient of numerous teaching\, research\, service\, and leadership awards\, such as the Inspirational Woman Leadership Award from IUPUI.
